U100 Writeups 2009

U100 West Sophomore 09 MVPS

LOS ANGELES CA 10TH grade NUC Schuman’s Outstanding Performance List

Matt Hegarty

Aztec HS, NM

10th

DL #85

Standing tall at 6’5.5 259, Hegarty was awarded the OL MVP following a strong showing. Hegarty had a 25 inch vertical, 4.99 shuttle run and bullied the d-linemen during 1 on 1’s.

Austin Kent

Central Catholic HS, OR

10th

QB #61

Kent won the QB MVP. With a clear view over most defenders at 6’5.5 211, Kent had a 26.5 inch vertical, 8’3 broad jump and excelled during 1 on 1’s and 7 on 7’s. Kent’s height, decision making and accurate throws put him atop the QB’s.

Joseph Farmer

Mount Si, WA

10th

TE #75

Even pro like size at 6’4.5 210, Farmer was far more than just a big body. A skilled player with great hands, a solid understand of the game and impressive route running, Farmer was awarded the TE MVP. Farmer would be a favorite target of any QB.

Giles Chapman

Castro Valley HS, CA

10th

WR #28

Undersized but not short of talent at 5’6 144, Chapman was awarded the WR MVP after putting together an admirable day on the football field. Chapman had a 30 inch vertical, 9’3 broad jump, ran a Speedy Gonzalez like 4.10 shuttle while excelling in both 1 on 1’1 and 7 on 7’s. Chapman is a winner who refuses to give up.

Dwayne Brown

Cathedral HS, CA

10th

WR #10

Brown, 5’7.5 143, won the Dodie award following an unbelievable performance. Brown was a notch above the competition during 1 on 1 and 7 on 7’s, seemingly catching every pass thrown in his direction while leading his team to a nice run. Brown would be an essential piece to any offense.

Mitch Melugin

Mission Viejo HS, CA

10th

DL #39

Far from your stereotypical lineman, Melugin was the Big Man Combine King. A solid athlete at 6’2 200, Melugin had a 27 inch vertical, 8’10 broad jump, and ran a 4.37 shuttle.

Marcus Paige-Allen

Sheldon HS, CA

10th

DL #76

Even though this 5’9 252 lber is nothing like the Oakland Raiders’ legendary running back, it appears we have the next great Marcus Allen. The DL MVP, Allen had a 25.5 inch vertical, bench pressed 185 lbs 28 times and dominated during 1 on 1’s.

Desman Carter

Kaiser HS, CA

10th

S #38

Carter, 6’0 183, won the DB MVP. A hardnosed safety, Carter had a 30 inch vertical, 8’4 broad jump, bench pressed 155 lbs 19 times and kept the receivers on lock during 1 on 1 and 7 on 7’s. Carter is an offenses nightmare.

Jens Jeters

Simi Valley HS, CA

10th

LB #66

The LB MVP, Jeters was the leader of the pack. Jeters, 6’0 200, had a 29.5 inch vertical, 8’8 broad jump, ran a 4.47 shuttle, bench pressed 155 lbs 27 times and manhandled the RB’s during 1 on 1’s. Just like baseball star Derek, Jens Jeter(s) is guaranteed to cover plenty of ground up the middle.

Ryan Henderson

Rancho Verde HS, CA

10th

RB #23

After being crowned Combine King in one of the all time great performances, Henderson did so much but yet, I was nearly speechless. Henderson, 5’9.5 164, had an all time record 42 inch vertical, 10’0 broad jump, ran a 4.39 shuttle, 4.44 40 and bench pressed 155 lbs 30 times. Henderson is the kind of athlete that can take a team to the top.

Todd Handley

Martin Luther King HS, CA

10th

RB #13

With speed and athleticism that come in hand, Handley was named the Fastest Man award winner. At 5’8 165, Handley ran a 4.28 shuttle ann Olympic-esque 4.34 40, had a 36.5 inch vertical, 10’6 broad jump, bench pressed 155 lbs 25 times and performed well during 1 on 1’s. Handley has out of this world potential.

Joseph Portaro

Faith Lutheran HS, NV

10th

QB #60

Portaro, 6’2 185, won the Leadership award. With a never say die attitude in tact, Portaro had a great read on the defenders, placing passes directly over their heads into his recievers’ hands. Portaro did an excellent job of working with his team and is very coachable.

Brandon Wright

Centennial HS, NV

10th

RB #32

In winning the Overall MVP, Brandon did everything the (W)right way. At 5’10 180, Wright had a 30.6 inch vertical, 9’6 broad jump, ran a  4.32 shuttle, 4.54 40, and bench pressed 155 lbs 24 times. He also made a major mark during 1 on 1 and 7 on 7’s with great hands in addition to his ground game.

Malcolm Thomas

Panorama HS, CA

10th

RB #34

Thomas, 5’9 173, was the RB MVP. Thomas had a 31 inch vertical, 8’10 broad jump, ran a 4.59 shuttle and excelled during 1 on 1’s.
